Time For Crown Hydro To Move On
At the May 18 Park Board meeting, the Park Board voted not to execute the revised Crown Hydro Project Letter of Intent that Crown Hydro had just told the Board it was rejecting. Since that date, representatives of Crown Hydro have been using the media to voice complaints about the Park Board's revisions of the Letter of Intent.
The following is a commentary by Longfellow resident Jerry Dastych who has been following Crown Hydro's efforts to construct the controversial hydro power facility on a site in Mill Ruins Park. He wrote the following commentary after watching a recording of the televised May 18 Park Board meeting:
TIME FOR CROWN HYDRO TO MOVE ON
Why is the MPRB even considering Crown Hydro’s proposal for using MPRB property for financial gain? It seems that Crown Hydro is attempting to dictate the terms of any agreement. In any typical leasehold agreement (such as apartment rental), the owner of the property would set the monetary and usage terms. The potential renter could either take it or leave it. Why should any agreement with Crown Hydro be any different? If they cannot agree to the MPRB terms of any potential lease, they should move on!
