On Monday the 3rd of January the MPRB will hold it's annual meeting where it will vote to choose the President and Vice President of the MPRB. What I find entertaining is that most of the commissioners have usually bargined their vote for both jobs to secure their position on a much beloved committee or to get a seat on a prominent intra-city committee. Last year Carol Kummer went to the planning committee and I have yet to see someone other than Commissioner Dziedzic head up the Legistative committee. With the possibility of Commissioner Dziedzic retiring I imagine that he might actually give someone else a chance to get to know the folks over at the state house. The other task that is done at this meeting is to elect a Board Secretary and appoint an attorney. Since Brian Rice or Don Siggelkow are the most likely at fault people for the Fort lein debacle for $2.5 million I am curious to see if they receive an automatic re-appointment. Mr. Sigglekow has also been lacking in his duties as Board Secretary. According to the "rules" of the MPRB he was suppose to have made a report on all outstanding business in committees during the first meeting of December. I have contacted a few board members and just like I thought, nothing of the sort was in their packets. In their struggle to keep the power amongst the few the majority commissioners are starting to let things slide and are letting down the people of Minneapolis. Maybe it is time for a change in not only the Board itself but also it's appointees.
