Park Board To Get $924,000 More From State?

According to a July 19 story by Scott Russell in the Southwest Journal, the recent budget agreement by the legislature restores some LGA money in a one-time deal. Minneapolis gets $7.7 million more and the Park Board is to receive 12% of that, or $924,000.

Will the Park Board make public its budget changes resulting from this new money? How to they intend to spend it?

Let's see. The contract the MPRB has with their insurer keeps health insurance costs from raising more than 18% a year. Last years increase was the 18%. I imagine this year will be no different. The contracts negotiated with the unions give them a 2% increase ( a pittace with the cost of oil affecting everything but at least not a decrease) 2% for the non-union employees and a raise in minimum wage for the seasonal workers. Add to this the 3 new district managers and the new PR person and I'm guessing this increase is now history. What I find the most annoying is that this LGA money will happen in 2006 and 2007, but then what? I am really looking forward to seeing this years proposed budget. How is that coming along ????
