Star Tribune: Two-week Closure For 40 Park Buildings
"Forty Minneapolis park buildings will be closed for two weeks beginning Monday.
It's the third straight August that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has closed recreation centers to save money. Three centers will remain open evenings by using money from foundations and businesses, while six will operate in the next few weeks in exchange for shorter hours in the fall. The buildings will resume regular hours Aug. 29 but will close for the Labor Day weekend.
Superintendent Jon Gurban was dismissive of questions about the closings."
